We've had four great Third Thursdays events so far at Woodstock Market so it's time for a recap for those of you who have missed out on the fun.
Last night Colleen Nelson, Owner and Lead Designer of Murson Designs, shared simple design techniques for creating beautiful Spring-inspired fresh and silk floral arrangements using unique items that you may find around your home.
Colleen has been creating beautiful floral designs for more than 20 years. She and her team now specialize in weddings and holiday décor, in addition to creating beautiful, custom floral designs for all occasions.
Colleen used a lovely lidded container found at Woodstock Market to create a beautiful fresh arrangement that one lucky participant won as a door prize.
In March, Louise Estabrook, our Cherokee County UGA Extension agent, answered participants gardening questions and helped them get ready for a successful gardening season!
Louise took us on an exciting trip through gardening history and explored Victory Gardens of the past. She shared about today's renewed interest in community gardens and local food production. We loved hearing about the Plant a Row Program that encourages gardeners to donate extra produce to local food agencies like our friends at Papa's Pantry.
In February, author Dawn Hood shared her story of surviving cancer with friends, family and faith. Dawn was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer when she was pregnant with her third child. After 3 surgeries, a nasty infection, and four rounds of chemotherapy, Dawn's little miracle entered the world - perfectly healthy!
After sharing a bit of laughter and hope, Dawn signed copies of her book, Pray and Bring Chocolate.
January was the first of our Third Thursday events. Emily Lyles with Helping Hands Professional Organizing gave tips to help de-clutter, set-up systems and use products to make our lives more productive and ultimately more organized. It was an interactive, informal and informational workshop that increased our motivation and sparked our creativity to get organized and stay organized throughout 2014.
The next Third Thursdays, Art of Accessorizing, will be May 15th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
